The only payroll deductions that are allowed to be made without the consent of the employee are statutory deductions, these are PAYE and UIF.
The following payroll deductions may be processed subject to the signing by the employee of all the necessary application forms and authorisations:
- Pension/Provident Fund
- Medical Aid
- Any loans (Personal, study, recovery)
- Union Fees
- Any other deductions agreed to by the employee in writing (social fund, wellness programme)
- Garnishees (Maintenance / debt recovery) – being an order of the court have to be deducted
